Starpoint selected as chamber business of the month The Daily Record, page B4 Starpoint was founded in 1977 in Fremont County, Colorado as a community-center board dedicated to service, support and advocate those with developmental disabilities (DD). They provide essential services to two vulnerable populations, kids, prenatal through 5 years of age and their families; and adults with cognitive and physical challenges. In the past thirty years the organization has grown from 13 full-time staff to over 300. Their quality and individually tailored DD services are available in Fremont, Chaffee, Custer, Denver and Jefferson counties where they touch the lives of more than 1200 people. Starpoint’s nationally recognized and awarded Early Childhood Network is the driving force for healthy youngsters in Fremont and Chaffee counties. Spin at Penrose opened in 2005 as a year round facility at the Penrose Elementary School and serves 3-12 year old children. Starpoint is also the federal fiscal agent for Early Head Start and many other family programs at the Fremont County Family Center. Starpoint was awarded the Canon City Chamber Business of the Month as Developmental Opportunities in November 1997 and February 2001.
