July 26, 2010 State Special Olympics bocce team celebrates wins Chaffee County Billy, 2 silver medals; George, 2 Bronze medals; Bev, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal; Mike, 1 gold and 1 silver medal; Anne, 2 silver medals; Jesse, silver medal and 4th ribbon; Coach Steve; Wally, 2 silver medals; BJ, silver medal and 4th ribbon.

July 26, 2010 Special Olympian Party Chaffee County A welcome back party was held July 26, 2010 for John Swartz on his return from the Special Olympic Nationals.  John was awarded a gold and a silver for his performance in Bocce.  Next on John's agenda is a cruise in the Caribbean with Mike. The group also celebrated the accomplishments of all the Olympians who competed in Colorado Springs the past weekend.

June 29, 2010 Starpoint CEO receives prestigious Jane Cavode Award Fremont County Roger Jensen, CEO - Starpoint (left) and Dr. Art Hogling, CEO – DDRC were jointly presented the prestigious Jane Cavode Award for their commitment and service to helping people with developmental disabilities and their families, locally, state wide and nationally.  Congratulations to you both for you commitment and many years of unwavering support and guidance, especially in these challenging and difficult financial times.

March 23, 2010 O'Haver ATV Trip Chaffee County ID on attached photos below.  Twenty six Starpoint Chaffee County consumers and staff were treated to a day long (9a - 2p) ATV trip in the mountains outside of Salida at Shirley Site rest area just below O'Haver Lake on Sunday, May 23.  Club members and family members of the Heart of the Rockies Snowmobile and ATV Club met the group with 8 two up ATV's and a four up buggy.  Consumers and staff rode non-stop on the mountain trails, broke for a lunch of hot-dogs, chips and homemade desserts and then continued on more challenging trails wrapping up at about 2 pm. April 14, 2010 Starpoint Denver receives Knights of Columbus donation Denver Denver Director Coleen Abeyta accepts a $500 check from William Longan, Knights of Columbus.  Funds will be used for new flooring at Denver’s Erinkay group home.

March 25, 2010 Linda's 60th Birthday Surprise Party Salida Four generations of Linda's family held a surprise birthday party at the Salida Center.  Linda's mom, sister and brother in law, niece and great niece treated all of the consumers and staff to pizza, pop and birthday cake celebrating her 60th.

March 5, 2010 Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum Trip Canon City Twenty-five Starpoint consumers and staff were treated to a day at the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum and lunch on Friday, March 5.  Ten Loaf N Jug district store managers hosted the outing which included lunch at the Loaf N Jug corporate headquarters across the street from the Museum. February 24-25, 2010 The Glam and the Glitz! Denver The paparazzi were out in full force on February 25 and 26th to cover this special night for people with special needs in our Denver community.  This prom night hosted by Shine at the Flatirons Community Church brought so much fun to the attendees and volunteers that no one wanted the evening to end.  Denver Starpoint consumers Josh, Gregory and Jeffrey dressed in tuxes were accompanied by Support Team Members (STMs) Rita O’Rourke and April Espinoza in gowns gave Hollywood a run for their money.  A special thank you to Josh’s dad, George and stepmom Stacy for making this such a remarkable and fun evening for the guys at Aaronmoor.

January 2010 Loaf N Jug "Stars for Starpoint" Canon City A Canon City employee proudly displays the Loaf N Jug/Starpoint "Stars for Starpoint" program which was promoted in Canon, Florence, Salida and Buena Vista.  The 3rd annual program and partnership raises money for developmentally disabled Adult Services programs in Fremont and Chaffee Counties.
