The Starpoint Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Mr. Tim Payne, Fremont County Commissioner, District 1 has been appointed to the Starpoint Foundation Board effective January 23, 2014.
Ms. Jennifer Harrigan, President of the Foundation Board said, “We are thrilled to welcome Tim to our board and look forward to his extensive county background and contributions.”
Tim indicated during his first look at the Foundation, “This is a local non-profit organization that I really want to be involved with. Their 36-year community presence is a testimonial to the people they serve daily and the dedicated staff who perform the day to day assistance.”
The Starpoint Foundation is a supportive board to Starpoint, a 501 © (3) Community Centered Board (CCB) which serves adults and children with developmental disabilities in 5 Colorado counties.
Tim Payne was born and raised in Cañon City, and graduated from Cañon City High School. Tim has deep roots in Fremont County; his Dad also was born and raised in Cañon City, and graduated from Cañon City High School, while his Mother graduated from the St. Scholastic Academy.
Tim and his wife Julie, who is also a Cañon City native, have been married for 37 years and have 2 grown sons, Tanner and Travis, who also graduated from Cañon City High School, and one Granddaughter, Alyson.
Tim worked at Mountain View Core Knowledge School as the Director of Maintenance, and held that position for ten years. Prior to that, he was employed at the First National Bank of Cañon City for 11 years, and Domtar industries for 15 years.
Tim was elected to the Fremont County Board of Commissioners in November of 2012.
In 2004, Tim was elected to the Cañon City Recreation District Board of Directors, and reelected in 2008. The last 4 years of his term he was the Board Chairman of the Cañon City Recreation and Parks District.
Elected in 2010, and reelected in 2012, He has served on the Cañon City Fire Protection District Board of Directors.
Other Boards Tim is associated with include the Fremont County Board of Zoning Adjustment, the Fremont County Board of Appeals, and is a former Vice-President of the Cañon City Chamber of Commerce Prospectors. Tim also umpired for 20 years, and was the Head of Umpires for 6 years with the Cañon City Recreation District.
Hobbies include hiking, Mountain climbing, and 4-wheeling.
