Starpoint Community Advisory Group

Due to state budget issues and a more competitive grant writing market, the Starpoint Community Advisory Group was founded in 2003 for the sole purpose of supporting the mission and programs of Starpoint.

Supporting Starpoint’s missions is accomplished through public education, fundraising, marketing, and public relations activities. Our hope is to fill in the gaps in funding in adult services and to stabilize funding for our early childhood programs in order to fulfill our mission of “enriching lives and realizing dreams.”

Please use this website to further explore all that Starpoint does for our communities. If you are interested in supporting our mission, feel free to make a tax-deductible donation below.

Forks-Corks-Farms-Chefs

This is a farm-to-table event.  Guests are treated to a delectable meal created by local chefs using locally sourced foods. Most recently, we have paired with Fremont Provisions & Unbridled to host the event at Canon City’s historical Macon Plaza, nestled in the grassy area in-between the Canon City Library and Fremont Center for the Arts.

The setting alone makes for a memorable evening with twinkle lights overhead and tables placed together for an optimal gathering. Chef Taylor from Fremont Provisions wows attendees with a buffet of unique and savory foods. The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey pairs the meal with their famed wine selection, and the Florence Brewery brings their seasonal beer. The evening is accompanied by live music. There is also a silent and live auction that produces several items from various local artists and businesses. This is truly a community event and a unique experience with a whole lot of charm.  All proceeds go back to the programs at Starpoint.

Rim to Rim Royal Gorge Races

We offer a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and a trail race at the famed Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. Always the first weekend in October, this is the perfect time of year for running. We have hosted the 5K/10K since 2010, added the half marathon in 2018 and the trail race is new this year. All four races are breathtaking and take runners over the Royal Gorge Bridge. What a unique experience for first-timers and an adorned experience for those who make it an annual tradition!  For first-timers check out the elevation maps on https://www.rimtorimroyalgorge.com/course-maps.html – the races are considered challenging races and not the flat and level.

Live music awaits all runners at the end of each race.  All proceeds from this event support the programs at Starpoint. For additional information, visit www.rimtorimroyalgorge.com
