FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Canon City, Colorado - Bryana “JoJo” Marsicano has been selected as the new Starpoint CEO effective March 1 announced the Starpoint Board of Directors. Marsicano, the 3rd CEO in 43 years replaces Robert “Bob” Arnold who retires in June.
Bryana graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and History, relocated to Canon City and started her career at Starpoint. She was initially hired as a Case Manager in the agency in 2007. After only three years, she was promoted to the Director of Case Management. As the director she has successfully managed the case management department for the last 10 years. Choosing to work for Starpoint was an easy decision for Bryana as she has been a lifelong advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities. “I have an amazing big brother, Todd, who just so happens to also be diagnosed with Downs Syndrome. I saw an opportunity to expand the advocacy that I did for him through my work at Starpoint and have truly enjoyed working with so many individuals, families and community partners,” she explained.
She further stated “throughout my career I’ve been privileged to work with incredibly supportive individuals such as Bob Arnold, who has mentored, shared his wealth of knowledge and expertise, and fostered me to grow within the company. The support and encouragement from within the agency has been overwhelming in the best of ways. I look forward to leading Starpoint through the ever changing state and federal regulation changes and not only advocating for individuals and families within our community but also expanding that voice to the state and federal levels to increase the awareness of our various programs for adults and children and funding needs. I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to lead Starpoint in this capacity and look forward to a successful transition into my new role,” she stated. Bob added further that Bryana is an excellent choice to serve as the next CEO of Starpoint. After an extensive search that included candidates from around the country she emerged as the unanimous choice of the Starpoint Board of Directors search committee. With thirteen years of experience at Starpoint she knows the organization and the community very well.
Bryana is married to Nick and they have two daughters; Avery, 12 and Reese, 9. She loves to spend time with her family, attend Colorado Rockies games and explore the mountains on their RZR adventures.
Bob Arnold’s retirement in June culminates a forty-six year career in the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) system. He was hired out of retirement by the Starpoint board in 2003 after extensive time and multiple positions in the Denver and metro area. Bob reminisced by stating “I am especially gratified that the capstone to my career is the six and one-half years it has been my privilege to be the CEO of Starpoint. We have made significant contributions to enriching the lives of the people we serve. Starpoint will continue a tradition of excellence under Bryana’s leadership. I am excited to have her be my successor and confident that she will be an exceptional leader,” he proclaimed. When asked about his second retirement he smiled and said simply “honey do projects, biking, hiking and walking and perfecting his culinary skills!”
The Board of Directors deeply appreciates Bob’s dedication to the field and eagerly looks forward to Bryana’s leadership and challenges. They further stated, “We were honored to have several qualified candidates for the position, but Bryana with her knowledge of the IDD system coupled with her experience and dedication to Starpoint was the clear choice for the position.”
